Frequently Asked Questions
Getting started/FAQ
Answers to help you get to know Vatra
1. What type of medical practice is Vatra?
Vatra is an adult-focused medical practice providing psychiatric and medical care for complex, stress-mediated, metabolic, and performance-impacting conditions. Care emphasizes diagnostic accuracy, clinical judgment, and systems-level understanding rather than protocol-driven volume care.
2. Who is this practice for—and who is it not for?
Vatra is designed for individuals who value depth, discretion, and time, and who are seeking thoughtful care beyond rushed visits or surface answers.
It is not designed for urgent care needs, brief medication-only visits (although we understand life and sometimes that is needed), or high-volume primary care.
3. Does Vatra treat children or families?
No. Vatra provides adult care only.
4. What conditions does Vatra commonly address?
Care commonly involves mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-related conditions, sleep disruption, stress-related symptoms, hormonal and metabolic concerns, and complex presentations where medical, psychiatric, and lifestyle factors overlap.
5. How do I request a consultation?
Appointments are made by requesting a free 15-minute discovery call. The 15-minute discovery call is an informational consultation designed solely to determine service fit, availability, and next steps. It is not a clinical evaluation, does not establish a doctor–patient relationship, and does not include medical advice, diagnosis, treatment, or crisis support. Any questions beyond service overview or scheduling will be redirected to a formal appointment.
if you are an existing client, appointments are requested through your patient portal.
6. What should I expect from an initial visit?
Initial visits are comprehensive and focused on understanding the full clinical picture. This includes a FULL history, current concerns, prior treatments, relevant medical data, and context. The goal is diagnostic clarity and an informed discussion of options—not immediate prescriptions or one-size-fits-all plans.
7. How long are appointments?
Exact visit lengths vary depending on the type of service. Initial assessments last 90 minutes.
8. Does Vatra offer ongoing care or one-time consultations?
Both. Some patients engage in ongoing care, while others seek focused consultations or second opinions. Recommendations are based on clinical need, not default scheduling
9. Is Vatra an integrative or holistic practice?
Vatra does not use buzzwords. Care is evidence-driven and grounded in modern medicine, while respecting enduring medical knowledge about physiology, stress, and regulation. Treatments are selected based on clinical appropriateness—not ideology or trends.
10. Does Vatra accept insurance?
Vatra primarily operates on a self-pay (out-of-network) basis and provides superbills to be submitted later to your insurance. Select insurance plans may be accepted; patients are encouraged to inquire directly regarding current coverage. Payment options include major credit cards, FSA/HSA accounts, and ACH.
11. How do I communicate between visits or request refills?
Established patients are given clear instructions for communication and medication management. Refill requests and follow-ups are handled thoughtfully and safely, not automatically.
12. Does Vatra provide in-person or virtual care?
Both in-person and virtual care are available, depending on clinical appropriateness and patient location.
13. Does Vatra provide urgent care or emergency care?
Vatra does not provide emergency or crisis care.
If you are experiencing a medical or psychiatric emergency, or are in immediate danger of harming yourself or others, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
Alternatively, if you need immediate mental health support, you may call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.
